Kathy Matsumoto
Kathy was born in Oakville but spent her summers on the Trent Canal near Bolsover. After spending a year in Europe, she returned to Canada changed, and had a new appreciation for Art, quality of life, and the importance of family. In 1996 she moved to Bobcaygeon and started a business with her family, the Keewanee Lodge.
Kathy has a reverence for nature and loves the outdoors and gardening. She finds beauty in everything in nature and conveys a sense of immediacy and harmony that you can feel in her paintings. With the use of bold colours, she creates not only drama but also shows her inner peaceful side.
Kathy started as a watercolour artist at Settlers Village but has grown to include pastels, oils and, most recently, acrylics. She has participated in workshops with Gordon MacKenzie, Art Cunanan, Chuck Burns, and Dave Beckett. Kathy has promoted her work by donating to many charities, including Ducks Unlimited, Toronto Irish Canadian Club, and the Alzheimer Society. Her paintings can be found in private collections across Canada, Europe and Australia.
